President and Chief Executive Officer
A seasoned medical device industry executive, Mr. Hable has held numerous senior management positions in the medical device industry, including Johnson & Johnson’s Codman & Shurtleff Division, where he was employed from 1979 to 2003, and President and CEO of BrainsGate, Ltd., an Israel-based startup developing implantable neurostimulation devices. He served on the boards of directors of ONI Medical Systems, Inc., a developer and marketer of medical imaging systems, and Neurodynamics, Inc., a medical device company developing products for managing traumatic brain injury. He also has served on the management advisory board of PureTech Ventures, an international life science business development and partnership advisory organization.
Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Officer
Dr. Harry, founding CEO of Afferent, has worked in biomedical engineering and medical device entrepreneurial environments for over 20 years. Prior to Afferent, he was VP of Research Engineering at NMT Medical, Inc., Boston, MA, (NASDAQ:NMTI), a company specializing in minimally invasive cardiovascular implants. Having joined NMTI in 1994 as its 5th employee, he built the infrastructure and team responsible for new product development. He received his doctorate from Harvard University in 1988 and was on the engineering faculty of Brown University for 5 years, where his research focus was functional neural stimulation and muscle mechanics.
Vice President of Research
Mr. Niemi has 15 years of medical device research experience in both animals and humans. Prior to joining Afferent in January 2000 he was Director of R&D and senior operations executive at Image Technologies Corporation, a privately held company commercializing image acquisition and display technology for use in endoscopic surgery. Prior to joining ITC, Mr. Niemi was a research and development engineer at NMTI. Mr. Niemi holds a M.S. degree in biomedical engineering from Brown University, where his research focused on functional neural stimulation. He has a B.S. in biomedical engineering from Boston University.
Vice President of Product Development
Mr. Kellogg has more than 15 years of medical device product development experience in
early-stage environments. Prior to joining Afferent in 2006 he was Vice President of Research and Development at Sontra Medical, which develops ultrasound-based devices for boosting the permeability of skin for diagnostic sampling and drug delivery. Prior to Sontra, he was an R&D director for Mentor Medical and Engineering Manager for Ultracision managing teams developing ultrasound surgical instruments. Mr. Kellogg holds an M.B.A. and M.S. from Northeastern University and a B.S. in engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is sole- or co-inventor on several domestic and international patents.
